Butterfly on a Red Spider Lily" is a three-dimensional embroidery featuring a red spider lilly with a butterfly, whose wing gently lifts off the 2D surface.. This piece was inspired by my visit to the Kinchakuda Manjushage Festival in Saitama, Japan, where an estimated five million red spider lilies bloom each September. Rather than depicting the blanket of red flowers covering the field, I chose to focus on the beauty of a single flower, capturing the intricate details that make each bloom unique.
