Below are highlights from my middle & high school teaching experience

Ceramics

While at Freeport High School, I taught a ceramics class. I particularly enjoyed the lessons on alternative teapots and bookends which focused on the combination of the aesthetics of art versus the functionality.

Wire Sculptures

While at Freeport High School, i taught a class on wire sculptures. Based on feelings of nostalgia, students recreated personal objects in wire. Using a variety of techniques, wire gauges, and drafting skills, students created wonderfully meaningful sculptures.

Scratch Boards

While at Freeport High School, I worked with students to turn one of their photographs into an etching. 

​

Students were given a lot of freedom for their subject matter but they did have to select one of their own photos as reference.

Photography

While at Freeport High School, my photography class started with digital photography and later transitioned into working with film in the darkroom. 

This allowed students to strengthen their compositional skills in photography before working with film.

Volunteer Instructor

Organized and taught a Design Thinking workshop for Orono High school, Chapter 104 students.

 

The session focused on designing portable shelters for the homeless.

​

Students designed homeless shelter models out of cardboard, plastic, and various other materials.
