Intro to Sewing Unit

In this unit, students will learn the fundamentals of sewing and design planning to create their own soft sculpture. They will begin with formative activities before moving on to their individual designs. Students will plan and visualize the steps of their project, then get teacher approval before starting to sew. This approval will take place during a collaborative conference, where the teacher can offer insights and guidance to help refine the student's plan. After receiving approval, students will create their final soft sculpture and evaluate the sewing skills they’ve developed.

The lesson also includes both pre- and post-assessment surveys to measure students’ growth in basic sewing skills.
